CAMPS BAY VILLA 9
8 Guests - 4 Bedrooms en-suite - Glass-walled living
area - Pool - Entertainment deck - Indoor barbecue
- Partial Ocean views - Artistic features - Double
garage and parking
This bright and stylish four-bedroom villa is a
wonderfully spacious and airy home for a family holiday
or for a group of friends. Set in a secure complex with
two other villas on the slopes above Camps Bay village,
off Camps Bay Drive. It is approached down a cobbled,
enclosed driveway with the imposing glass front door to
the left of the double garage.
As the front door opens, you look down a wide corridor
off which lead bedrooms and bathrooms on either side.
The wide, shallow steps take you down to a superb
glass-walled living area overlooking the pool deck and
garden.
The Villa’s Italian and Dutch owners have created a
colourful setting in which to relax and entertain with
the piece de resistance being the impressive
floor-to-ceiling glass walls that surround the interior
living area on three sides. Flooring throughout the
wide, open-plan living area is in whitewashed wood and
red is the dominant colour of living room furniture.
Looking in from the garden you are impressed by a
sizeable red and white artwork that hangs above the
large red leather sofa and square armchairs on the one
side and the red steps leading up to the kitchen area
that sits on a raised dias on the other.
In front of the kitchen dias is a freestanding wood
burning fireplace with overhead extractor. Adjacent to
the dining area, this is designed to be used as an
indoor barbecue or fireplace on cooler nights. A long
dining table surrounded by 10 white chairs stretches
across this part of the living area and overlooking the
swimming pool and outside entertainment deck.
Between the dining area and living space, a plasma TV
sits on a swivel glass base and backs on to the pool
deck. There, the rattan basketwork of the curved
sun-loungers matches the outdoor table and chairs and a
bank of white cushions provide more outdoor comfort on a
raised deck surrounding the pool. To the right of the
deck is the imposing Lion’s Head mountain; to the left
of the deck is a glimpse of the sea through the lush
green vegetation.
From its presiding position the colourful kitchen has
the best view of all, overlooking all the interior
living and dining spaces, the relaxing decked area and
the neat surrounding garden. The kitchen itself is both
practical and unusual: it has a central square worktop
built in stone into which is sunk a large decorated
sink. The back wall of the raised kitchen is stylishly
fitted with cabinets and a work surface: the hob is
below an attractive arch and the oven fits into the bank
of cabinets along with a microwave, fridge freezer and
dishwasher. The washing machine and tumble drier are
found in a separate laundry room that opens off the wide
corridor that descends from the front hallway.
Also opening off this wide hallway, just around the
corner from the small workstation placed in the corner
of the living room, is a bright guest shower room with
freestanding basin and toilet, practically situated for
pool users. Here the colourful walk-in shower cubicle
has been created in decorated stone. After a swim, you
can shower and enjoy the picture of Italian actress
Sophia Loren.
Now you can explore the artistically designed
double-bedrooms, which frame either side of the main
hallway. At the highest level in this gently terraced
villa, on your left after you walk through the front
door, is the master bedroom with its en-suite bathroom.
You walk up two steps from the hall past a spacious
dressing area with built-in wardrobes and enter the
fresh and bright main bedroom. Glass sliding doors open
out to the trees edging the garden and the curtains
flutter in the breeze off the bay. Here the double bed
is made up in pure white and a flat screen TV is
positioned for comfortable viewing. The en-suite
bathroom reflects the artistic talents of the owners
where they have created one of the most unusual baths in
blue with headrests at both ends. Clearly designed for
sharing, comfort and view! It is next to a wide window
from where you can glimpse the sea in the bay below.
Also impressive is the walk-in shower cubicle with a
wooden decked floor, fronted by sheer floor-to ceiling
glass. A large basin, spacious enough to bath a baby
in, is set into the vanity cabinet and there is a bidet
and toilet.
Bedroom Two, called the Orange room, is off the hallway
to your right, below a convenient and well-designed
laundry room. One of the beauties of this double bedroom
is that it again has sliding glass doors, this time
overlooking a grassed lawn that leads straight down to
the pool deck. Rolled orange towels in little baskets at
the foot of the bed add a splash of colour, as do the
wall tableaux. The colour is also reflected in the
en-suite shower room, which has a basin set into an
orange-topped pedestal and toilet.
Bedroom Three, the Africa room, which goes off the main
hallway to the right again, on the other side of
the laundry room, is slightly smaller but compensates by
having one of the most eye-catching en-suites. Here you
literally walk through a door-height baroque picture
frame to access the shower and then into a separate
adjoining room where the toilet and freestanding orange
basin are housed. It is a charming bedroom again with
its own access into the garden.
Bedroom Four, the Dutch room, saves the best for last. A
sunken bath set into the floor is a delightful addition
especially as it is alongside sliding glass windows so
you can have your bath looking up at the stars overhead
or glimpse the sea below. The pristine design of the
en-suite hand basin and toilet complete this charming
room.
The villa is serviced Monday to Friday except on public
holidays.
There is good security throughout the villa and
surrounding complex.
Approximate distances;
The villa is about two minutes drive down to the Camps
Bay beach front
Ten minutes drive to Table Mountain Cable car
Twenty minutes drive to the V&A Waterfront
Forty minutes drive to Cape Town International Airport.
